03. The Digital Awakening
From Communication Center to Digital World ๐๐ก
In 2007, right after completing Tema Secondary School, life didnโt slow down for meโit shifted into responsibility.
My dad, Samuel Yaw Adeklo, was a hardworking entrepreneurโthe man behind both the now-defunct Sam Sam Construction Company Limited and the Watch Israel Communication Center in Ashaiman. When the opportunity came, I stepped in to manage the communication center from 2007 to 2008.
Looking back now, it feels like I was standing at the intersection of analog and digital history.
Helped people make landline telephone calls when mobile phones were rare.
Created letters for customers using Microsoft Word.
Designed graphics using CorelDRAW.
Learned to change printer toner and operate scanners professionally.
The Nokia E51 Moment
A defining moment came when a customer brought a Nokia E51 with a CD containing Nokia PC Suite. I installed the software, connected the phone via USB, and successfully transferred music from the computer to the phone.
That moment sparked my curiosity. Soon, I owned a Symbian phone and began exploringโdownloading MP3 music, apps, and games (".sis" files). What started as helping customers became self-driven discovery.
Reflection
What looked like a small communication center was actually my first tech lab. It became my foundation in digital systems, creativity, and problem-solving.
The name โWatch Israel Communication Centerโ wasnโt just a business nameโit carried deeper meaning. Today, I see it as something propheticโa symbol of identity and awakening.
"Sometimes, your futureโand your identityโis hidden in the small responsibilities you take seriously. That little shop in Ashaiman didnโt just serve customersโit built me."

Gibson Construction Company Limited
Labourer & Front Desk Personnel | 2008 โ 2012
Started as a labourer and front desk personnel after secondary school at his brother's company.
The Tally Software Story (2008)
The company was my senior brother, Gibson Micheal Kumahโs company, and I started working there after I graduated from Tema Secondary School. I helped the accountant at Gibson Construction, where I downloaded an Indian accounting software called Tally with its software crack using a torrent in the year 2008. We installed the accounting software in the office, and the accountant used the software for accounting purposes for the company. I always created a backup for the accountant so that he could restore his work whenever he came to the office because the accountant worked in multiple organizations due to his knowledge of accounting software like Tally, which made him work faster and more efficiently. The accountant told my brother, who was the CEO of Gibson Construction, that in the future I should pursue IT because of my knowledge base in the field, even back in the year 2008. I also worked as a labourer, so I have practical knowledge in block laying, mortar mixing, etc.
"The accountant praised Solomon's technical abilities and recommended he pursue a career in IT even back in 2008."
